Abstract
Dichroic filters have been suggested for use in a variety of photovoltaic spectrum- splitting applications. However the optical efficiency and reflection band of a dichroic filter depend on the incident angle and affect the spectrum splitting system performance. In this paper the effect of non-ideal dichroic filter properties on the efficiency of a concentrating spectrum splitting PV system has been described. In a typical spectrum splitting situation the transition wavelength can shift by as much as 100 nm and can have a significant effect on the system design and efficiency.
