Abstract
Single-frequency (single-longitudinal-mode) operation of composite-cavity lasers at high modulation speeds has been demonstrated recently for application in long-haul high-data-rate optical fiber sys- tems.1,2 The spectral linewidth under cw operation may be as narrow as a few megahertz or less,3,4 which is of interest for coherent optical communication.
