Abstract
The transmission loss increase phenomenon of silica fibers due to the effect of hydrogen is an important problem in the long-term stability of optical fiber communication. The loss increase is reported to depend on dopants such as P2O5, GeO2, and fluorine.1-3 Generally, optical fibers contain chlorine because chloride material is used as a raw material, often for dehydration, and to make depressed structures.
