Abstract
To determine the probability distribution function from the knowledge of its moments is generally referred to as the problem of moments.[1] Traditionally, only normalizable positive distribution functions are considered in such problem. However, in quantum optics we are dealing with P functions that are typically highly singular, not necessarily positive, generalized functions. We shall adopt a new approach especially suitable for such cases.
